Atiqul, Mamun, 3 others shown arrested in fresh uprising cases

DHAKA, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court here today showed five individuals, including former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam and former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, arrested in several cases filed over murder and attempted murder committed during the July mass uprising.
 
The three other arrestees are- Anisul Huq, Salman F Rahman and Pirojpur Swecchasebok League leader Md Niaj Morshed. The court, after showing them arrested in the cases, sent them back to jail.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqur Rahman passed the orders as police produced the five before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases.
 
Of the five, Mamun, Anisul and Salman were shown arrested in a case filed with Kadamtali Police Station, while Salman was shown arrested in four other cases, Anisul in six other cases and Mamun in five other cases, all filed with the Jatrabari Police Station. Atiqul and Niaj were shown arrested in a case filed with Badda Police Station.
