Actor Siddique on 7-day remand in murder attempt case

DHAKA, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed actor Siddiqur Rahman Siddique on a seven-day remand in a case lodged with the city's Gulshan Police Station over attempt to murder one Jabbar Ali Hawlader during the July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanaullah passed the order as police produced Siddique before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.

A group of youths apprehend and assaulted Siddique on Tuesday noon as he was walking through the city's Bailey Road area. They later handed him over to police.

According to the case documents, police on July 19 opened fire on the pro-uprising activists in front of Shahjadpur Confidence Tower. Jabbar got shot in the attack. He filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on December 11 against 109 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
