DHAKA, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has stood by seriously ill Faridpur resident Nizam Uddin who made a promise not to eat rice until BNP comes to power.

As per the direction of the BNP acting chairman, a delegation, led by BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam and 'Amra BNP Paribar' convener and BNP Media Cell member Atiqur Rahman Rumon, went to Faridpur this afternoon to inquire about Nizam Uddin's physical condition.

Atiqur Rahman Rumon conveyed Tarique Rahman's message of sympathy to Nizam Uddin who was receiving treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Later, he was brought from Faridpur Medical College Hospital to PG Hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Family sources said that in 2014, on the anniversary of the martyrdom of BNP founder President Ziaur Rahman, local Awami League leaders and activists threw the cooked food on the ground and ruined it.

Being angry, Nizam Uddin did not eat rice for more than eleven years since then.
