One to die, another gets life-term in Manikganj murder case

MANIKGANJ, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to death 
and another one to life-term imprisonment for killing a man in 2017 in 
Shibalaya upazila of the district.
 
Additional District and Sessions Judge Sabina Yasmin pronounced the verdict.

The death-row convict is Parvej Hossain alias Sumon Sheikh, 30, son of Ekhlas 
Matobbar of Dakkhin Khanpur village under Shibalaya upazila and the life-term 
convict is Alim, 32, son of Shahid Bepari of the same village.

The court also fined Parvej Taka 50,000 and Alim Taka 30,000, in default, to 
suffer two-year more in jail.
 
The prosecution story, in brief, is that convict Parvej teased the school 
going daughter of victim Billal Hossain on the way to her school and Alim had 
a conflict with the victim over a land dispute. 

On March 15 in 2017, the convicts killed Billal chopping with sharp weapons.
 
Later, a case was filed with concerned police station in this connection.

The Investigation Officer (IO) of the case submitted a charge sheet before 
the court.

After examining the witnesses and evidence, the judge gave the punishment.
