SATKHIRA, May 1, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian goods worth Taka 582,280, including sarees, medicines, chocolates, motorcycles, and narcotics, during a series of anti-smuggling drives conducted at different border points in Sadar and Kalaroa upazilas of the district.

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ashraful Haque, Commander of the 33 BGB Battalion in Satkhira, confirmed the seizure.

According to BGB sources, acting on a tip-off, multiple special teams conducted coordinated operations across the region. A team from Bhomra BOP under Sadar upazila recovered Indian sarees from the Lakhmidari border. Another team from Taluigacha BOP confiscated Indian medicines from Tetulbari, while a third team from Jhaudanga Special Camp seized an Indian motorcycle and nine bottles of Indian liquor from Fakir Para.

Meanwhile, in Kalaroa upazila, a team from Kakdanga BOP seized 750 pieces of Indian Katagra tablets from Bhadiali and Indian chocolates from Razzaker Mor. Separate teams from Madra BOP and Hijaldi BOP also seized Indian medicines from Bhadiali and Shishutala, respectively.

No arrests were made during the raids, as the smugglers fled the scenes sensing the presence of BGB forces.

The process of depositing the seized items with the Satkhira Customs Office is currently underway. Regarding the recovered narcotics, a General Diary (GD) has been filed with the Satkhira Narcotics Control Department.

Lieutenant Colonel Ashraful Haque added that the confiscated drugs have been stored in the BGB warehouse and will be publicly destroyed in due process.
