Police arrest a female bank officer from Dhaka on a fraud charge

KHULNA, May 1, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested a female bank officer from Dhaka in connection with a case filed over embezzlement of money through fraud from an expatriate's account in Khulna in the early today.

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) arrested Afsana Shahin Munni, 36, from the Mugda area in Dhaka, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna kotwali police station Hawlader Mohammad Sanwar Hossain Masum confirmed.

Later in the afternoon, she was sent to jail through the court.

Arrested Afsana Shahin Munni, a resident of city’s Ispahani Residential Area, has been serving as a senior officer at the Khulna branch of South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank Ltd (SBACB).

On April 18, Afsana Yasmin Trishna, wife of a Malaysian expatriate, filed a case with the Khulna kotwali police station, accusing Munni and 8 to 9 others of embezzling Tk 7 lakh through fraudulent means from her husband’s account.

OC said that a police team led by sub-inspector Molla Jewel Rana arrested Munni from Mugdapara area in Dhaka.

She has been accused of embezzling remittance money sent by the expatriate.
