Hefazat demand trial of Shapla Chattor Carnage

DHAKA, May 3, 2025 (BSS)- Leaders of Bangladesh Hefazat-e-Islam have demanded justice for Shapla Chottor Carnage in 2013 and withdraw of all cases filed against Hefazat leaders and activists during the fascist regime.

The hefazot leaders pressed these demands from a grand rally held at the capital’s Suhrawardy Uddyan here today. 

“The people of Bangladesh could not enjoy freedom for the last 15 years. Our second independence has been achieved through the July 24 uprising. I want justice for the killings at Shapla Chattar and the anti-Modi movement,” Hefazat Amir Mawlana Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari said.

“Indian fascism and Awami brokers must be brought to justice. There will be no place for fascists in the country,” he said. 

Hefazat Amir said the rights of minorities must be guaranteed with priorities and warned the interim government not to formulate or implement anything that contradicts Islamic law.

“Any law against the Quran and Sunnah will not be tolerated,” he said.

Hefazat Amir Mawlana Shah Mohibullah Babunagari presided over the grand rally.

Daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman, Mufti Dr Enayet Ullah Abbasi, Jatiya Nagorik Party-NCP South Region Chief Organizer Hasnat Abdullah addressed the rally.

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam Mawlana Ubaidullah Farooq, Dr. Ahmad Abdul Kader, Maulana Salahuddin, Mufti Jasim Uddin, Mawlana Abdul Awal, Sarwar Kamal Azizi, Mohiuddin Rabbani, Ahmed Ali Qasemi, Mawlana Khurshid Alam Qasemi, Mahbub Zakaria, Mawlana Abdul Kader, Mawlana Ayub Babunagari, Mawlana Afzalur Rahman spoke, among others on the occasion.

Joint Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam, Mawlana Azizul Haque Islamabadi read out the written statement on behalf of Hefazat Amir.

“A conspiracy is going on to put the independence and sovereignty of the country under threat and make the country,” he said.

With the prayers of Hefazat Amir, the rally ended at 1:11 pm. 

Earlier, the organization's secretary general Sajidur Rahman announced two programs of the party. 

The programs are- nationwide protest rally on May 23 and meeting at divisional level to establish the fair rights of the women.
