Noted Islamic scholar Sulṭan Zauq Nadwi passes away

DHAKA, May 3, 2025 (BSS) –Sulṭan Zauq Nadwi, an Islamic scholar, author and the founder of Jamiah Darul Ma'arif Al-Islamia,  passed away while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Chattogram in the early hours of today at the age of 86.

Born in Maheshkhali of Cox's Bazar district, Sultan Zauq Nadwi is known mainly for his expertise and contribution to Arabic language and literature.

He was the president of the Qawmi Madrasa-based education board Anjuman-e-Ittehadul Madaris Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Bureau Chief of the Saudi Arabia-based international literary organization International League of Islamic Literature.

Sulṭan Zauq Nadwi was the founding Director General of Jamia Darul Ma'arif Al-Islamia of Chittagong and the Chief Advisor of the recently announced committee of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh.
