Youth held with 10 gold bars worth Tk 1.25cr in Jashore

JASHORE, May 4, 2025 (BSS) - Police in a drive arrested a youth with 10 gold 
bars from Bagachra area in Sharsha upazila of the district today.

The arrested youth was Shuvo Ghosh, son of Sunil Ghosh, a resident of 
Janamatop village under Singair upazila in Manikganj district.

Police said a check post was set up in front of Bagachra Union Parishad based 
on secret information. At the check post, during the search, 10 pieces of 
gold bars weighing 1092.96 grams were recovered from Shuvo's possession.

The market value of the recovered gold bars is around Taka 1.25 crore. 

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of Navaran Circle, Jashore, Nishat 
Al Nahian said during the initial interrogation, Shuvo Ghosh confessed that 
these gold bars were being taken towards the border for smuggling to India.
