Miscreants attack Hasnat Abdullah in Gazipur

DHAKA, May 04, 2025 (BSS) – National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer (Southern region) Hasnat Abdullah came under attack while travelling in a vehicle through Gazipur this evening.

The incident took place at around 7:00 pm at the Chandna intersection area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway while Hasnat was travelling to Dhaka by a vehicle, GMP Bason police station officer in-charge Md Shahin Khan said.

The vehicle was vandalized and Hasnat sustained injuries to his arm during the attack, he added.

“A group of people from behind attacked my car around 7:00 pm in the Chandna intersection area on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. I was hit by broken glass of the car in my left hand,” Hasnat Abdullah told BSS over telephone.

The incident was disclosed in the evening through a Facebook post from Sarjis Alam, NCP Chief Coordinator (Northern Region).

“After the incident, Hasnat Abdullah's vehicle headed towards Dhaka. As it reached the Board Bazar area near the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), students from the university came forward to ensure his safety,” NCP Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam told BSS.  

Hasnat Abdullah got out of the car there and spoke with the students. Gazipur Metropolitan Police officials also arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, he added.

Following the attack, Sarjis Alam in a Facebook post said, “A group of 10-12 attackers ambushed Hasnat's car in Gazipur. The car windows were smashed, and his left hand was bloodied. Anyone nearby, please protect him.”

Police sources said the process of arresting those responsible for the attack is underway.
