One held with 10,000 yaba tablets in capital

DHAKA, May 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a drug peddler with 10,000 yaba tablets from the capital's Malibagh area.

The arrestee was identified as Md Monir Hossain, 40, said a DMP media release today.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB received information that an individual was present at the Malibagh intersection area with a large quantity of yaba. Acting swiftly, they conducted a raid in the area and apprehended the suspect with the mentioned yaba at 9:45pm on Sunday.

A case has been registered under the Narcotics Control Act at Tejgaon Industrial Police Station in this incident.

After the initial interrogation, police said Monir is a professional drug dealer who had been collecting illegal drugs, yaba, for a long time and selling them in various areas, including Malibagh in the capital.

Legal action is underway against him.
