Ex-MP Mazharul Sujan shown arrested in extortion, explosive cases

THAKURGAON, May 5, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today showed former Thakurgaon-2 lawmaker Mazharul Islam Sujan arrested in two separate cases lodged over extortion and carrying explosives.

Judge of Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Rahima Khatun passed the order rejecting the bail plea as police produced him before the court this afternoon.

ASI Abdul Quddus said that freedom fighter Shamsujjoha filed a case with Baliadangi Police Station on February 22. Former MP Sujon has been named as the fourth accused in the case and his father, former MP Dabirul Islam, has been named as the main accused. The number of accused in this case is 64.

On the other hand, Sujan has been named as the main accused in another case filed by Advocate Moudud Ahmed, a resident of Harinarayanpur village in Sadar upazila. His father is also named as the third accused in that case. There are 32 accused in this case.

After arguments, the judge denied bail in both cases and ordered him to be sent to jail.
