DHAKA, May 5, 2025 (BSS) - ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General (DG) of the EC's National Identity Registration Wing, today said the Election Commission (EC) has identified over 500 individuals across Bangladesh with multiple NIDs and necessary actions are being taken against them.

"Searching 130 million records individually is impractical, but we'll act on specific leads," he said while talking to reporters at Election Bhaban in the city.

Kabir, however, said the EC is also decentralising NID correction powers to district officers to expedite pending applications and enhance public service.

To prevent unauthorized entries, particularly by Rohingyas, Kabir said that the EC awaits a database via API from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies.
