GAZIPUR, May 5, 2025 (BSS) – An attempt to murder case was filed today with Bason thana of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) in connection with the attack on National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer (Southern region) Hasnat Abdullah.

NCP Gazipur Metropolitan representative Khandaker Al-Amin filed the case naming around 100 persons and several unidentified others.

Police arrested at least 54 people in connection with the attack on Hasnat Abdullah since Sunday.

All arrested persons are leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations, police sources said.

GMP Additional Commissioner (Administration) Zahid Hasan told BSS that the case was lodged after verifying information.

A special operation is underway to arrest others involved in the incident, he added.

Hasnat Abdullah came under attack while he was travelling to Dhaka from Gazipur last evening. The attackers vandalized his transport and injured him grievously.
