Jamaat condemns attack on Hasnat Abdullah in Gazipur

DHAKA, May 5, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today strongly condemned and protested the attack on Hasnat Abdullah which took place yesterday.

The party's Assistant Secretary General and former lawmaker Dr Hamidur Rahman Azad issued a statement in this regard saying the attackers are enemies of democracy.

At a time when the country is moving towards a stable democracy, such terrorist acts are undesirable and unwelcome, he added.

He called for preventing such terrorist acts of the allies of the defeated forces.

Azad strongly demanded for conducting a free, fair and impartial investigation into the incident.

He urged the concerned authority to find the people involved in the incident immediately, bring them under the law and give exemplary punishment.

Hasnat Abdullah came under attack while travelling in a vehicle through Gazipur last evening.

The incident took place around 7:00 pm at the Chandna intersection area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway while Hasnat was travelling to Dhaka by a vehicle, GMP Bason police station officer in-charge Md Shahin Khan said.
