DHAKA, May 6, 2025 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sent former lawmaker Amirul Alam Milon of Bagerhat to jail after his overnight arrest as a suspect of the murder of a Jubo Dal leader in 2023, court officials said.

Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court ordered him to be imprisoned until police investigation on the murder was completed approving a police prayer.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the order after Milon’s appearance on the dock under police custody.

Police’s detective branch (DB) arrested the former lawmaker from Indira Road in the city’s Farmgate area around 11:45 pm yesterday.

Jubo Dal leader Shamim was killed on October 28, 2023 when the then ruling Awami League staged a rally coinciding with BNP’s grand rally in the capital, sparking violence.

A case was filed over the murder on September 24, 2024 with Paltan Police Station in this connection.
