Ex-ministers Anisul, Inu shown arrested in fresh murder case

DHAKA, July 23, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today showed former law minister Anisul Huq and former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu arrested in a case filed over the killing of a youth during the July-August Mass Uprising in the capital's Mohakhali area. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order after police produced them before the court and sought to show them arrested in the case.

According to case documents, 22-year-old Md Shahjahan joined an anti-discrimination rally on July 19, 2024, at Mohakhali flyover under Banani Police Station. The rally came under attack, and Shahjahan was shot. He died of his injuries on July 24.

His mother, Sajeda Begum, later filed the case with Banani Police Station on December 18, 2024.

Anisul Huq was arrested on August 13, 2024, from the capital's Sadarghat area while allegedly attempting to flee the city via river route, along with Salman F Rahman. Inu was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police on August 25 from a house in Uttara.
