DHAKA, July 24, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police on Wed nesday arrested a suspected drug peddler along with 200 kilograms of cannabis and a covered van used for trafficking in the capital's Jatrabari area.

The arrestee was identified as Md. Saiful Islam, 23.

Based on secret information, a DB team conducted a drive in the Rayerbag area under Jatrabari Police Station around 8:30 pm and detained Saiful along with the seized cannabis and vehicle, DB sources said.

According to the sources, a group of drug dealers had gathered on the east side of the Rayerbag foot over-bridge on the Chattogram-Dhaka highway to sell marijuana when the law enforcers raided the spot.

A case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act in this regard.
During primary interrogation, Saiful confessed that he had long been involved in illegal drug trading in different areas of the capital, including Jatrabari.
