Jubo League leader Hira sent to jail in murder case

Dhaka, July 24, 2025 (BSS)-  A Dhaka court today sent Jubo League central committee member Sheikh Walidur Rahman Hira to jail in a case lodged over the murder of one Amir Hossain in Uttara area during the July-August Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman passed the order as police produced Hira, also the office secretary of Gopalganj city Awami League, before the court and pleaded to put him behind bars till the end of probe. 

Police arrested Sheikh Walidur Rahman Hira from Bashundhara residential area on July 23.

According to the case documents, Amir Hossain participated in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on August 5, 2024, in the Jasim Uddin Road area of Uttara west police station in the capital. 

He was shot at 4:30 pm that day and was taken to the hospital. Later, he succumbed to injuries in the evening. 

The father of the deceased, Khorshed Alam (57), filed the case with Uttara west police station on November 2. Hira was implicated in the case as 67 number accused.
