DHAKA, July 24, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate into an allegation over a plot allotment in Purbachal New Town Project illegally in favour of former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque.

ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain said there was an allegation that the Rajuk plot was handed over to the former Chief Justice violating the RAJUK (Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha) rules.

Addressing a briefing at the ACC head office, Akhter Hossain said, Justice Khairul Haque got a 10-katha plot in Purbachal New Town Project in 2003 from RAJUK.

But, he did not deposit Taka 6.50 lakh of the first installment as per the conditions of the plot allotment. As a result, RAJUK decided to cancel the allotment, Hossain said.

In 2009 Justice Khairul Haque regained the allotment of the plot in connivance with a section of Rajuk and ministry officials, he said.

Accordingly the plot was handed over to Khairul Haque again without depositing total amount of the plot in violation of the law and rules of the RAJUK.

He deposited a cheque of the first installment, which was scheduled to deposit six years back. But the cheaque was also bounced.

Then the plot was illegally transferred to him on the condition of paying all the dues after retirement, Akhter Hossain said.

As part of the Fact Finding Commission, the commission decided to investigate the allegation of handing over the plot illegally to former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque.
