PIROJPUR, July 24, 2025 (BSS) – Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Charmonai Pir, today reiterated his party’s demand to hold the next general elections through the Proportional Representation (PR) voting system after completion of the trial of genocide and necessary reforms.

“The polls should be held through the PR voting system . . .Before that, the trial of genocide and necessary reforms must be ensured,” he told a gathering of IAB Pirojpur district unit at Pirojpur Central Shaheed Minar premises here this afternoon.

Bitterly criticizing the misrule of the deposed Sheikh Hasina’s Government, he said, “Those who were in the office in 53 years of independence have misled the people...Bangladesh now wants to be freed from extortion, terrorism, corruption, disappearances, murder, dictatorship and fascists.”

About the opening of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Office in Bangladesh, the Charmonai Pir said the UN cannot be found where there is a real concern about human rights violations but they want to open a human rights office here at present.

Terming it as ‘interference’ in our sovereignty, Mufti Rezaul added that they did not want a UN human rights office in Bangladesh.

With party’s district unit President Maulana Muhammad Yahya Howlader in the chair, IAB district unit Secretary Muhammad Monirul Hasan, Senior Vice-President Alhaj Nazrul Ahsan, Islamic Youth Movement General Secretary Muhammad Hafizul Islam, District President of National Ulema Mashayek and Aimma Parishad Maulana Rafiqul Islam, Islamic Students Movement District unit President Muhammad Tariqul Islam and its General Secretary Muhammad Ariful Islam Adif were present, among others.
