Mohila Dal President pays tribute at Maherin Chowdhury's grave

NILPHAMARI, July 25, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas visited the grave of Maherin Chowdhury, the late teacher who gave her life protecting students during a tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College in the capital's Uttara.

Arriving at Chowdhury Para village in Bogulagari under Jaldhaka upazila at 10:30am, Afroza Abbas led a delegation of Mohila Dal leaders to honor Maherin's memory. The group paid tribute at her grave and met with grieving family members to offer condolences.

Calling Maherin a national hero for the entire women's community, Afroza said, "We have come here to pray for the salvation of her soul and to express our heartfelt condolences on behalf of Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. Words fail us in the face of such a sacrifice, only those who have lost loved ones can truly comprehend this pain."

Mohila Dal Joint General Secretary and former MP Helen Zerine Khan, Maherin's husband Monsur Helal, BNP leader Abu Saeed Chowdhury Didu, Nilphamari District Mohila Dal President Tasmin Fauzia Opel and General Secretary Nasrin Akter, along with several other district and upazila leaders from Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Dimla, were present.
