RANGPUR, July 25, 2025 (BSS) – Jamaat-e-Islami Executive Council member ATM Azharul Islam has said the youth society must come forward to play a leading role in the crisis of the country.

“The youth society has played historic leading roles in the anti-Ayub movement, the mass movement of 1969, the liberation war of 1971, the anti-dictatorship movement of 1990 and the anti-fascist movement of 2024,” he said.

ATM Azharul Islam, also Jamaat-e-Islami’s former Acting Secretary General, said this at a youth rally held at the Model High School auditorium in Badarganj upazila of Rangpur on Friday evening as the chief guest.

ATM Azharul Islam said that the country has undergone great changes. The youth society must protect this change and the country, he said, adding that Jamaat-e-Islami wants elections very soon.

“But before that, we want an exemplary trial of the mass-killer fascist and crucial reforms. A level playing field must be created and the election system must be introduced in a permanent manner under the caretaker government,” he said.

He said, “We will not allow anyone to rob the ballot in the next elections. For this, the youth society must be vigilant. We want to establish the law of Allah and rule of honest people through participation of all people in fair elections.”

Through this, Jamaat-e-Islami wants to change the fate of 18 crore people, create a corruption-free society and establish justice.

“In the past, two ministers of Jamaat-e-Islami have run three ministries. No one has been able to allege corruption of a single penny. This is the ideal of Jamaat-e-Islami,” he said.

Azharul Islam said, "The fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina had kept me in jail for the past 14 years by issuing a false case and ordering my execution on fabricated evidence and suppressing my voice."

“By the infinite mercy of Allah Almighty, I am free today. I will devote myself to the struggle to establish the religion of Allah until the last day of my life, Insha’Allah,” he committed.

He said, in the past, the fascist Awami regime had killed, imprisoned and oppressed millions of leaders and workers of various political parties of different opinions, including Jamaat-e-Islam.

“As a result of this oppression, in the July-August revolution, the mass uprising of the students, including the pride of Rangpur, martyrs Abu Sayeed, in exchange for the sacrifice of the lives of the students and youth, the tyrant has fallen,” he said.

He said, “The youth gave their hearts to the welfare of the country and the nation that day. As a result of this, the tyrants have fled the country.”
