Ex-UP chairman Lakh Miah on 4-day remand in graft case

DHAKA, July 28, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed Lakh Miah, former chairman of Brahmandi Union Parishad (UP) under Araihajar upazila of Narayanganj, on a four-day remand in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Minhazur Rahman passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on a five-day remand.

Lakh Miah was arrested on February 25, 2025.

The ACC filed the case on March 6, 2025, against Lakh Miah and his wife for amassing illegal wealth worth Taka 55.23 lakh, possessing it unlawfully, and making suspicious transactions of Taka 14,376 crore through 49 bank accounts.
