Comrade Moni Singh's 124th birth anniversary observed

NETRAKONA, July 28, 2025 (BSS) - The 124th birth anniversary of Comrade Moni Singh, founding president of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), was observed here today with due respect.

On the occasion, the Moni Singh Mela Udjapan Committee brought out a colourful procession from the Moni Singh Memorial Museum in Durgapur upazila of the district.

The day's programme began with the hoisting of the national and party flags on the museum premises.

CPB Central Committee member and convener of the Mela Udjapan Committee, Comrade Dr Dibalok Singh, inaugurated the programme.

A discussion meeting was also held, with Dr Dibalok in the chair and CPB Upazila Committee General Secretary Rupan Kumar Sarkar presided over the programme.

Later, a vibrant cultural event was staged.

Born on July 28, 1901, in Kolkata, Comrade Moni Singh came from a royal family. Despite his aristocratic roots, he renounced a life of luxury and privilege to dedicate himself to a life of struggle, aiming to bring about revolutionary change in society.
