DHAKA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatradal(JCD) has revised the venue for its previously announced student rally scheduled for August 3 at the request of the National Citizen Party (NCP).

Now, JCD will hold its rally at Shahbag instead of the Central Shaheed Minar, announcement JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib at a press conference today at the party's central office in the capital's Naya Paltan.

He said, "Since JCD was the first to announce the rally and obtained proper permission from relevant authorities, we are the rightful claimant to organize it at the Central Shaheed Minar."

"However, as a tolerant and democratic student organization that respects all views and ideologies, we have reconsidered our stance in light of NCP's request. Now, we have decided to shift the rally from the Central Shaheed Minar to Shahbagh on August 3," he added.

Rakib further noted, "As an example of our liberal political outlook, we express regret in advance to the public if this venue change causes any unintended inconvenience on Dhaka's busy streets."

He continued, "We hope the significance of this day and our thoughtful shift in venue will be understood and appreciated."

Rakib also mentioned that repeated appeals from NCP leadership prompted the decision to change the rally's venue.

JCD General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, Senior Vice President Abu Afsan Md. Yahia, and Joint General Secretary Shyamal Malum, among others, central leaders were present.

Earlier in the morning, JCD organized a prayer and milad session on the ground floor of the party office wishing quick recovery for BNP Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was present there as the chief guest.
