5 mobile phone stealing gang members held, 123 mobile phones seized

DHAKA, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police in separate raids on Tuesday at the capital's Demra and Mohammad areas arrested five members of a mobile stealing gang and seized 123 stolen mobile phones from their possession.  
 
 
The arrested have been identified as Md. Nasir Sarkar (38), Md. Iqbal Hossain (50), Abdul Rari (37), Md. Abdul Kader (50) and Md. Monir Hossain (32).
 
 
The DB-Wari division arrested the five in separate raids at Sunna Tengra area under Demra Police Station and in front of the Nagar Bhaban under Shahbag Police Station on Tuesday, said a DB press release.
 
 
 
DB said that the arrested are active members of a mobile phone-stealing gang.
 
 
During the preliminary interrogation, the detainees confessed that they used to secretly collect stolen mobile phones from different parts of the country and bring them to Dhaka and sell them.
 
 
The investigation into the case and the operation to arrest other absconding members of the gang are going on, DB sources said.
