Dr Zahid pays homage to teacher Mahreen

NILPHAMARI, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today paid tribute to Mahreen Chowdhury, a teacher of Milestone School and College who died in a plane crash at the institution in the city's Uttara area.

Dr Zahid reached Chowdhurypara village under Jaldhaka upazila this morning and laid a wreath at her grave. Local BNP leaders and activists accompanied him during the visit.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, "Mahreen Chowdhury sacrificed her life to save her students. Her dedication as a teacher was unmatched. As both a mother and an educator, she fulfilled her responsibility with courage and compassion."

Former lawmaker Bilkis Islam, Nilphamari district BNP convener Mir Selim Faruk, joint convener Mostafa Haque Pradhan, and member secretary H.M. Saifullah Rubel were present.

Mahreen Chowdhury succumbed to her injuries on the night of July 21 after a training aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College. She risked her life to save at least 20 students during the tragic incident.
