3 ex-MPs shown arrested in separate cases

DHAKA, July 30, 2025(BSS) – A court here today shown arrested three former Members of Parliament (MPs) in separate cases.

The three former MPs are- Md Sadek Khan from Dhaka-13, AKM Sarwar Jahan Badhsa from Kushtia-1 and Kazi Monirul Islam Monu from Dhaka-5 constituencies.

The Investigation Officers (IOs) of the cases submitted separate petitions to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court for showing them as arrested in those cases. 

Earlier, the three former MPs were brought to the court from jails. 

Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi, on behalf of the CMM, granted the petitions and ordered to show them as arrested. The court also instructed the authorities concerned to send the former lawmakers to jail.

According to the court sources, Kazi Monirul Islam Monu was shown arrested in six cases of Jatrabari Thana and Sarwar Jahan Badsha was shown arrested in the attempt to murder of Sohel Rana with Mohammadpur Thana while Sadek Khan was shown arrested in Md Hossain murder case of the same police station.

Sadek Khan, former General Secretary of Dhaka City North Awami League, was arrested from the city on August 24 last year and Kazi Monirul Islam Monu was arrested on April 21 this year while AKM Sarwar Jahan Badsha was arrested from Basila area under Mohammadpur Thana on June 17 last.
