ACC launches probe against two ex-DCs over land scam

MADARIPUR, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation against 13 individuals, including two former deputy commissioners (DCs) of Madaripur, over alleged embezzlement in the land acquisition process for the Padma Rail Link project.

DCs Md Wahidul Islam and Dr Rahima Khatun, along with former additional DCs Syed Faruk Ahmed and Jhotan Chandra, are among the people.

According to ACC sources, the ACC's Integrated District Office in Madaripur has sent formal notices to the district administration office, accusing the officials of misappropriating funds during the land acquisition for the Padma Bridge railway link project in Shibchar upazila.

An ACC investigation team, led by Assistant Director Akhtaruzzaman, is conducting the inquiry.
