Agreement signed to resolve water crisis in Karnaphuli residential area

CHATTOGRAM, July 30, 2025 (BSS) - A tripartite agreement has been signed among the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA), Chattogram WASA and the Karnaphuli Residential Plot Owners Welfare Association (KRPOWA). 

The agreement signing ceremony was held at the auditorium of the CDA building this afternoon.

They said this agreement will help solve the long-standing water crisis in the Karnaphuli residential area.    

CDA Chairman Engineer Nurul Karim presided over the event while Chattogram WASA Acting Managing Director (MD) Monowara Begum attended it chief guest. 

Senior Vice President of the Plot Owners Welfare Association Advocate Zia Habib Ahsan delivered the welcome address on behalf of the association. 

The CDA chairman said, “CDA will provide all-out support in implementing this visionary project. This is not just a formal agreement, our commitment is to ensure that the plot owners of Karnaphuli Housing can get benefit directly from the project. If the project is completed according to the deadline, the citizens will be relieved from long-standing suffering.” 

CDA Special Magistrate Md. Nazrul Islam, Secretary Rabindra Chakma, Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shams, State Officer Md. Alamgir Khan, Executive Engineer Md. Ilias and WASA Chief Engineer Maqsud Alam, Supervising Engineer Mohammad Mahabubul Alam amongothers were present at the event. 

KRPOWA Adviser Professor Dr. Imran Bin Yunus, its Vice President Golam Wares, General Secretary Md. Yasin, Joint Secretary Saiful Huda were, among others, present.
