Dinajpur municipality signs dev pact with Pembroke Park City authority

DINAJPUR, July 30, 2025 (BSS)- An agreement was signed between  Dinajpur Municipality and the Park Pembroke City Authority of the US state of Florida at the Deputy Commissioner’s office this afternoon.

Vice Mayor of Florida Musfeka Kashem and Dinajpur Municipality Administrator Md. Riaz Uddin inked the agreement on behalf of respective institutions.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam, Superintendent of Police Marufat Hossain, senior officials of various government and private offices of the district were present while Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Habibul Hasan moderated the event. 

Pembroke Park City Authority has come forward for development work witnessing the poor condition of this 150-year-old municipality as development activities of the northern town of Dinajpur Municipality have been delayed due to various obstacles in the past.

This agreement will create a historic bridge between the Dinajpur Municipality and Park Pembroke. 

The USA-based organization has announced to provide assistance in various areas including the visible development of the Dinajpur Municipality's infrastructure, education and medical care.

Park Pembroke City Vice-Mayor Musfeka Kashem, said in her speech, "I am a girl born in Ganeshtala in Dinajpur city, Bangladesh. I went to the United States from Bangladesh and became the Vice Mayor of a city there. Seeing such a neglected condition of the municipal council in my birthplace Dinajpur, I came forward to make it visible. She called upon all concerned to cooperate in helping her in the development of this municipal council.”

Dinajpur Municipality Administrator and Deputy Secretary Md. Riaz Uddin said such an agreement is the first in the history of Dinajpur Municipality. 

The people of Dinajpur city will benefit from the execution of this agreement, he said adding the US institution will provide technical and financial assistance in various ways including education, medical care, water drainage, hygiene, along with infrastructural development here. 

“This is as a milestone event for Dinajpur,” he said.
