DHAKA, Aug 3, 2025(BSS) - The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed two separate cases against former CHT Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing and his wife Mehla Prue for acquiring illegal wealth worth about Taka 11.50 crore and making suspicious transaction of Taka 74 crore.
ACC Director General (DG) Md Akhter Hossain disclosed the information to the media at a press briefing at the commission’s headquarters in the city’s Segunbagicha area.
According to the case, the ACC during its investigation found that Bir Bahandur made suspicious transactions of Taka nearly 58.41 crore through his 13 bank accounts while he was the minister for the CHT Affairs Ministry and Member of Parliament (MP) from Bandarban constituency.
Of the total transactions, he deposited Taka over 32.16 crore to those accounts and withdrew Taka over 26.24 crore from there at that time.
Besides, the ACC also found ownership of illegal wealth worth about Taka nearly 9.18 crore against his name.
Meanwhile, the ACC during the investigation against his wife Mehla Prue found that she made suspicious transactions of Taka over 15.58 crore through her six bank accounts. She deposited Taka nearly 9.31 crore to those accounts and withdrew Taka over 6.28 crore from there.
The ACC investigators found transactions of Taka over 3.35 crore in her accounts that is beyond her known source of income. They also made Bir Bahadur as co-accused in the case with his wife.
The ACC lodged the cases under section 27(1) of the ACC Act-2004, sub-sections 2 and 3 under section 4 of the Money laundering Prevention Act-2012 and section 109 of the Bangladesh Penal Code (BPC).
