Inu, Menon, Palak shown arrested in fresh July Uprising cases

DHAKA, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed former ministers Hasanul Haque Inu and Rashed Khan Menon and former state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak in a case lodged over the murder of one Pantho during the 2024 July Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the case lodged with the Kadamtali Police Station. The court sent them back to jail.

According to the case documents, Mahadi Hasan Pantho, 18, a student of Government Tolaram College in Narayanganj, joined an Anti-Discrimination Student Movement rally in the capital's Kadamtali area on July 19, 2024.

The rally came under attack at around 4pm and Pantho got shot in the incident. A bullet pierced through his head, leaving him dead on the spot. The case was filed on November 8, 2024.
