DHAKA, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has donated an oxygen concentrator to the parents of Dr Sajib Sarkar who was martyred in the July uprising last year.

On August 2, at a programme titled 'Tales of July Doctors' arranged to honour the families of the two martyred doctors, it was mentioned that an oxygen concentrator was needed for Shaheed Dr Sajib Sarkar's father Halim Sarkar and Sajib's ailing mother.

The matter came to the attention of BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, the chief guest of the programme. He promised to provide the oxygen concentrator within three days after discussing the matter with BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Within two days, on Monday, the oxygen concentrator was handed over Dr Sajib's father at Bangladesh Medical University on behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

On March 29, as per the instruction of Tarique Rahman, Dr Rafiqul Islam provided one oxygen concentrator for Sajib's mother but it was not enough for her treatment, so the second oxygen concentrator was provided.

In a brief speech while handing over the oxygen concentrator, Dr Rafiqul Islam said, "BNP knows how to keep its word. After listening to Sajib's mother, the BNP acting chairman ordered to take urgent and necessary measures. For that, I thank the BNP acting chairman."

He asked Dr Sajib's parents to pray for BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and the Zia family.

Dr Sajib's father thanked Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party for standing by his family.
