DHAKA, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS) - A discussion titled 'Role of Alem-Ulemas in the July Uprising' was held today in the city's Agargaon, marking the July Uprising Day.

Islamic Foundation organised the discussion, said a press release here.

At the event, the speakers said that the contribution of the Alem community and madrasa students in the July Uprising will be remembered forever in the history of the nation.

They said religious leaders took to the streets and participated in the movement along with the students and common people. This uprising is not just a mass movement but is a historical and political awakening against the long-standing exploitation and discrimination of the people of Bangladesh, they said.

Later, prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the departed souls of martyrs of the July Uprising and the early recovery of the injured.

Islamic Foundation Director General A. Salam Khan presided over the meeting, while Islamic Arabic University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Shamsul Alam addressed it as special guest.
