ASM Abdul Halim stresses immediate steps to prevent river erosion

JAMALPUR, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS)- Adviser to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and former Cabinet Secretary ASM Abdul Halim today urged the government to take necessary steps to prevent river erosion in Islampur of Jamalpur.
 
He said river erosion has rendered many families in Islampur upazila homeless. After losing all their properties, the families are leading an inhumane life. If proper steps to prevent river erosion had been taken in time, many families could have been saved. 

ASM Abdul Halim, also the chairman of the House Building Finance Corporation, said this at a meeting after visiting the erosion site of the Dashani River at Chandanpur village in Islampur upazila of the district this afternoon. 

The meeting was held at Chandanpur Madrasa Ground with BNP leader Shamim Ahmed in the chair. Among others, BNP leaders Nabi Newaz Khan Lohani Bipul, Joynal Abedin Sarkar, Md Helal Uddin, Samidul Islam and Kamrul Huda Pahlowan spoke at the meeting.
