Sakhawat, Fouzul Kabir visit two shipyards in Munshiganj, Narayanganj

DHAKA, August 5, 2025(BSS) - Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (Rtd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain today visited the 'Three Angel Marine Ltd Shipyard' at Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj to oversee the progress of shipbuilding for the BIWTC.   

Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan accompanied the shipping adviser during the visit. 

Among others, Chairman of the BIWTC Md Salimullah and Project Director and Chief Engineer of the BIWTC Ziaul Alam were present, among other, at that time. 

During the visit, the Shipping Adviser instructed the authorities concerned to ensure smooth progress and standard of the construction. 

He later visited the Ananda Shipyard in Narayanganj where they have been manufacturing sea-trucks for Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC). He also stressed the need for maintaining quality of the construct and its effective use.

The adviser instructed the authorities of the shipyard to ensure security and congenial working atmosphere for the employees of the yard.

The government has been working for enhancing the facilities of the workers of the shipbuilding sector to reduce their health risks and security issues as the quality and skill of the employees of this sector has significantly improved, he added. 

Dr Sakhawat said that a total of 18 marine transports would be handed over to the BIWTC within September of this year from the 'Three Angel Marine Shipyard'. Besides, the construction of four sea-trucks at Ananda Shipyard has also been progressing fast, he added.

Highlighting the government initiatives for expansion of water communications at the island areas especially in Sandip, Hatiya and Maheshkhali belts, the shipping adviser said that the government has been trying to remove the sufferings of the coastal people by adopting pro-people policies.

He told the journalists that the three angel marine limited shipyard and the Ananda Shipyard have already signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nigeria and extended the ship building industries to abroad.

Energy Adviser Fauzul Kabir said that the three angel marine shipyard has been manufacturing oil tanker for reducing the carrying cost of oil. The ship building industries of the country are now of world standard and the sector has been meeting up not only the domestic demand but also competing in the international arena, he said.

It may be mentioned here that the Ananda Shipyard has been manufacturing 18 water transports for BIWTC under a project for manufacturing 35 commercial water transport, eight supporting water transports and two new sleep ways.
