Illegal gas lines removed in keraniganj, saving tk 7 lakh worth of gas

DHAKA, Aug 5, 2025 (BSS) - An eviction drive was carried out in the Panchdona and Ati areas under Keraniganj Model Police Station under the Jinjira branch of Medhabibi-2, targeting illegal gas connections.

The drive was led by Executive Magistrate Monija Khatun on Monday under the directives of the Energy and Mineral Resources Department.

Illegal gas connections were detected in four unnamed factories during the operation. Each factory had been using around 800 cubic feet of gas 

per hour without authorization. 

The illegal connections were disconnected on the spot, and various equipment used for the unauthorized supply was seized.

Following the disconnection, an estimated 22,617 cubic meters of gas will now be saved monthly. The monetary value of this saved gas is estimated at around Taka 6,89,825.
