CHATTOGRAM, August 5, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today said that journalists should not be aligned with any political party even with BNP rather they should work for the country and its people.

He made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at the 'Journalist-Student-Public Rally' on the concluding day of the week-long program of the 'July Mass Uprising and Fall of Fascism Festival' organized by the Chattogram Press Club here.

Referring to the July Uprising, the BNP leader said the movement was for the re-establishment of democracy and the return of power to the people.

“Our goal was to restore the democratic structure of the country. The success of the movement does not mean taking credit, success means establishing the rights of the people," he added.

Amir Khasru said that BNP's middle-level leaders and activists have experienced oppression and torture that the mass people have not witnessed.

“We can see the images of those who have been captured on camera. However, the voices and images of the suffering of millions of oppressed individuals remain unknown to us," he added.

The BNP leader said, "Many of those who have lost their lives, become disabled or blind throughout the country have not been part of the discussion. Yet, they are also silent warriors of this movement. Therefore, the credit for this movement belongs to the entire people of Bangladesh. BNP has never claimed this credit for itself."

Mentioning that claiming credit of the July Uprising would divide the country, Amir Khasru further said, "You know from the very beginning until now, BNP has never taken credit for this. BNP’s stance is that this movement is a movement of the 18-20 crore people of Bangladesh”.

He said BNP does not need to take this credit and we did not act for recognition, we have been protesting for the liberation of the country, for democracy, to return power to the people.

Chattogram Press Club Member Secretary Jahidul Karim Kochi Presided over the function while moderated by Press Club Members Golam Maula Murad and Meah Mohammad Arif.

Among others, former BNP Chattogram city General Secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar, former Convener of Chattogram South District BNP Abu Sufian, Chattogram Press Club Member Mustafa Nayem, CMUJ General Secretary Saleh Noman, July front fighter Rejoun Siddique and Even Mir took part in the discussion.
