RANGPUR, Aug 5, 2025 (BSS) - Md Mokbul Hossain, father of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, today demanded trial of the July mass killers quickly to ensure justice, establish the rule of law and eradicate fascism forever from the country.

He, however, requested the interim government to build the proposed state-of-the-art hospital of international standard in Rangpur with the funding of the Chinese government to eliminate discrimination in the northern region.

Mokbul Hossain said this at a reunion and prayer gathering held with families of July martyrs, injured and frontline July fighters marking the July Uprising Day at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium in the city today.  District administration organized the event.

Families of the martyrs of the July Uprising, injured and frontline fighters were present at the event.

Addressing the event, Imran Ahmed, a frontline fighter of the July Uprising said that the purpose for which the students carried out the 2024 mass uprising has not been fully achieved even today.

“The people of the northern region have always been deprived of the facilities and benefits of the state despite leading every movement. Even after the July Uprising, the budget disparity in the Rangpur region remains,” he regretted.

Frontline fighter Imtiaz Ahmed Imty said, "Even after a year of the mass uprising, our aspirations have not been fulfilled. The terrorists must be identified and brought to justice immediately."

He called upon the administration to rehabilitate the families of the martyrs of the July Uprising and provide proper treatment to the injured July Uprising fighters.

Miftahul Jannat Mita, who was injured in the July mass uprising, said that discrimination against women still exists in many cases. It is important to eliminate discrimination in all sectors by embracing the spirit of this uprising.

“The July Uprising martyrs, frontline fighters and injured frontline fighters of the July Uprising should be given state recognition,” she said, and called upon the authorities concerned to ensure proper medicare services for the injured of July fighters.

Rangpur Divisional Commissioner and Rangpur City Corporation Administrator Md Shahidul Islam said that students and the public have sacrificed their lives in building a new Bangladesh. Many are injured and undergoing treatment.

“We have not been able to give due respect to those who played a leading role in the movement. The resources of this country are limited, and the government is trying to provide financial support to the July fighters with these limited resources,” he said.

He assured financial assistance to the families of the martyrs, injured and undergoing treatment of the July fighters from the Divisional Commissioner's Office, Rangpur City Corporation and the District Administration's own funds.
