Palak, Monu shown arrested in another uprising killing case

DHAKA, August 6, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed former state minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak and former Awami League (AL) lawmaker from Dhaka-5 constituency Kazi Monirul Islam Monu arrested in a case lodged over the murder of one Fardi Ahammed in the city's Jatrabari area during the July-August mass uprising.
 
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zia Uddin Ahmed passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the case. The court, after that, sent them back to jail.
 
 
According to the case documents, Farid joined an anti-discrimination rally on Hanif Flyover in Jatrabari area on August 5, 2024. He suddenly got shot and was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next day.
 
 
The Detective Branch (DB) of police on August 14 last year, arrested Palak from the city's Nikunja residential area, while Monu was arrested from the city's Gulshan area on April 21, 2025.
