JAMALPUR, Aug 6, 2025 (BSS) - Adviser to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and former Cabinet Secretary ASM Abdul Halim yesterday said the July Uprising was a mass protest against the misrule of the previous government.

"It was an outburst of long-standing grievances of the people," he said, adding that the movement reflected the public's frustration over autocratic rule. He urged all to remain vigilant so that fascism never returns to the country.

He made the remarks at a discussion meeting held at the Islampur Upazila Parishad auditorium to commemorate the July Uprising Day.

The meeting was presided over by BNP leader Joynal Abedin Sarkar and jointly organized by the Islampur upazila and municipality units of BNP.
After the meeting, a rally was brought out that paraded the main roads of the area and ended at Battola intersection.

Local leaders and activists of BNP participated in the rally.
