Khulna Jamaat holds rally, procession marking July Uprising

KHULNA, Aug 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Khulna City Unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami organised a rally and procession on August 5 to mark the July Uprising Day.

The rally took place at Sonali Bank Square in the city. Following the rally, a procession paraded through Ferry Ghat and Power House intersection and concluded at Shibbari Mor.

Earlier, speaking at the rally, Central Majlis-e-Shura Member and Khulna Metropolitan Jamaat Ameer Prof Mahfuzur Rahman said that despite the passage of a year since the July Uprising, the people of Bangladesh are still not free from corruption, inequality, extortion, land grabbing, and fascist practices.

He said, "A particular group is involved in widespread extortion across the country. We do not want to blame any single party for this. However, the people will reject these extortionists in the upcoming elections."

"Every citizen of Bangladesh is honorable to us," he continued. "Jamaat-e-Islami is working to uphold the honor and rights of the people."

Central Majlis-e-Shura member and City Secretary General Advocate Sheikh Jahangir Hossain Helal conducted the event, while Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Khulna Regional Team member Master Shafiqul Alam, Khulna District Ameer Maulana Emran Hossain, City Nayeb-e-Ameer Prof Najibur Rahman, among others, addressed the rally.
