CHATTOGRAM, Aug 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested a fugitive, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case, from the Bategi area under Rangunia upazila.

The arrestee, Jashim Uddin, 45, hails from the Temirchara area under Bategi union.

Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a raid in the area this morning and arrested him. He was later handed over to Rangunia Police Station for further legal action.

According to RAB, Jashim killed his neighbour Shah Alam on June 5, 2000, over a longstanding feud and had been absconding since the incident. A murder case was filed against him with Rangunia Police Station.

In 2012, a Chattogram court sentenced him to life imprisonment and fined him Tk 50,000. In default, he will have to serve an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.
