RAJSHAHI, Aug 7, 2025 (BSS) – After a recess of long 17 years, the biennial council of Rajshahi city unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to be held at Zila Parishad auditorium here on Sunday (August 10).

BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is expected to address the council meeting virtually as the chief guest, the media cell sub-committee for the biennial council revealed this at a media briefing at its office here today.

Addressing the press, former General Secretary of the BNP city unit Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon said the council will be held with all BNP family members, including councilors and delegates from seven thana and 35 ward committees.

Replying to a question, he said the council is going to be held with unanimous decisions and consensus of all and all the senior and junior leaders will remain present there. Ultimately, the council will be a festival and gathering place as the present BNP is in a unique line forgetting all the previous confusion and chaos.

Shafique Milon also said the ousted fascist Awami League repressed and oppressed BNP, filed scores of cases against them and landed in jail illegally.

Local unit BNP leaders Nazrul Huda, Ansar Ali, Rabiul Alam Milu, Aslam Sarker, Waliul Haque Rana, Shafiqul Islam and Abul Kalam, among others, were present at the press conference.
