COX’S BAZAR, Aug 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed two separate cases against former CHT Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing and his wife Mehla Prue for acquiring illegal wealth and making suspicious transactions.
The Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of the Cox’s Bazar Integrated District Office of the ACC Md Manunur Rashid filed the cases at the office here.
Assistant Director of the district integrated office of the commission Anik Barua Babu confirmed the information to BSS saying that they had filed the cases after thorough investigation into the case.
The ACC during its investigation found that Bir Bahandur has illegally acquired Taka 9,17,86,464 and made suspicious transactions of Taka 58,40,83,507 through his 13 bank accounts while he was the minister for the CHT Affairs Ministry and Member of Parliament (MP) from Bandarban constituency.
Of the total transactions, he deposited Taka over 32.16 crore to those accounts and withdrew Taka over 26.24 crore from there at that time.
Besides, the ACC also found ownership of illegal wealth worth about Taka nearly 9.18 crore against his name.
On the other hand, the ACC during the investigation against his wife Mehla Prue found that she acquired illegal wealth worth about Taka 9,35,94,074 in connivance with her husband that is contrary to her known source of income.
She also made suspicious transactions of Taka over 15,58,81,184 through her six bank accounts.
She deposited Taka nearly 9.31 crore to those accounts and withdrew Taka over 6.28 crore from there, the officials added.
The ACC investigators found transactions of Taka over 3.35 crore in her accounts. They also made Bir Bahadur as co-accused in the case with his wife.
