Youths who turn 18 by Oct 31 will be eligible to vote: EC Sanaullah

DHAKA, Aug 7, 2025 (BSS) - Youths who will turn 18 by October 31 will be able to vote in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections, said Election Commissioner (EC) Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah (retd).
 
He gave this information after the ninth meeting of the Election Commission (EC) at the Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital's Agargaon.
 
After the meeting, EC Sanaullah said, "The Chief Adviser has announced a specific time for our elections. In light of that, we discussed until what date we can register voters."
 
"You know that we also proposed a minor amendment to the Voters' List Act, which was approved by the Advisory Council. As a result, now we will be able to take voters even from the middle of the year," he said.
 
"This is a good news for new voters. What we have decided today is that we hope to include those who will turn 18 by October 31 in the voter list," he said.
 
Currently, there are more than 12.37 crore voters in the list; about 44.5 lakh more who were excluded in the update will be added and the deceased will be excluded he said, adding, this will be finalized on August 31.
