Killer of Bongshal drug trader caught within 24 hours

DHAKA, Aug 8, 2025 (BSS) - A team of Bongshal Police Station has arrested the 
killer of drug trader Md Hira in the city's Malitola area within 24 hours of 
the murder.

"An operation team of the Bongshal Police Station, with the help of 
information technology, managed to detain the killer Md Jibon Miah, 30, from 
Kalatia Bazar area of Keraniganj on August 7 and recovered the knife used in 
the murder," a DMP release said today.

According to the release, Jibon went to Hira's residence at 48 Golok Pal Lane 
in Malitola around 8am on August 6 to buy two yaba tablets. As Jibon had no 
cash and wanted to pay later, an altercation broke out between them, which 
soon turned into a physical scuffle.

"At one stage, Jibon repeatedly stabbed Hira in different parts of his body 
and fled the scene. Hira died on the spot," the DMP release added.

The arrestee has been sent to court, where he has already given a 
confessional statement.
