17 arrested in DMP drive at Mohammadpur, Adabar

DHAKA, Aug 8, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 17 individuals, including drug traffickers, snatchers, and other criminals, in special drives conducted in Mohammadpur and Adabar areas as part of the ongoing citywide crime control efforts.

The arrests were made during operations carried out on Thursday in several crime-prone spots under Mohammadpur and Adabar police stations, according to a press release issued by DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman today.

In Mohammadpur, police arrested 13 people in a day-long special operation. The arrestees were identified as Jabir (25), Mithu (19), Adar (22), Anon (18), Nayan (20), Hridoy (26), Mehedi Hasan (21), Al Amin (21), Diganta (22), Jewel (27), Raihan (19), Monir (29), and Shaheen (35). Police also recovered 2 kilograms of marijuana and a mobile phone during the drive.

Meanwhile, Adabar police arrested four individuals involved in various criminal activities. The arrestees were identified as Md Mamun or Rashid alias Abir (35), Kazi Md Zayed (32), Md Yunus (22), and Md Rustam Ali (50). A private car was also seized from their possession.

The press release stated that the arrested individuals include accused in regular cases, those with outstanding warrants, and others involved in criminal offenses. All detainees have been sent to court.
